The United Nations Organization recognized for the first time that it is inevitable to miss the target established by the Paris Agreement. This recognition represents a significant change in the organization's posture regarding international climate commitments.
According to the report, global warming of 1.8 degrees is the best scenario that can be achieved. This value exceeds the most ambitious objectives of the Paris Agreement, which aimed to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
However, the report pointed out that it is still possible to reverse this trend by the end of the century. The solution lies in aggressively reducing greenhouse gas emissions globally.
