A Mathematics teacher will be tried for usurpation of functions after having taught for 35 years without the necessary academic qualifications. The woman was expelled from teaching in 2023, after an investigation called into question the validity of her academic credentials.
The accusation against the teacher was filed ten months ago. Throughout this entire period, the teacher tried to avoid the trial by requesting the opening of the instruction phase, a legal mechanism that allows the terms of the accusation to be reviewed before the trial.
The case revealed an unusual situation in the education system, in which a teacher was able to work for more than three decades without her qualifications being questioned until the investigation that led to her expulsion.
