The demand for plastic surgery after significant weight loss has grown significantly in recent years, accompanying the expansion of weight loss programs and drug treatments for weight reduction. After a considerable reduction in body weight, many people seek aesthetic procedures to remove excess skin, reshape body contours, and improve self-esteem.
According to a survey by Close-Up International Brasil, the three highest-grossing medications in the weight loss category moved together R$ 13.3 billion in Brazil between May 2025 and May 2026, demonstrating the significant size of this market.
In e-commerce, data from Serasa Experian records 1,364,354 orders for medications associated with GLP-1 in the first half of 2026, representing an increase of 149.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, with R$ 2.3 billion moved.
These medications are prescription-based and indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, overweight, and obesity, chronic conditions that affect millions of Brazilians and that have been driving both the pharmaceutical market and the demand for corrective aesthetic procedures.
