Minister says Brussels supports public participation in REN

Observador1 September 2026 at 20:11

Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho met in Brussels with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy. During the meeting, the topic of public participation in REN, the National Electricity Grid, was discussed.

Brussels expressed its support for public participation in REN. The European Commission considers this to be a position aligned with European energy policy.

Portugal was, until then, the only country in the European energy transmission network with a 100% private company. This situation distinguished Portugal from the other European countries on this matter.
