A crisis within another crisis: Ceuta registers almost one sexual assault per day since the massive entry of migrants into the territory

Since July 30, Ceuta registered 23 cases of sexual assault, which amounts to almost one case per day, according to the chief prosecutor of Ceuta, Silvia Rojas, to the newspaper El País. Spanish authorities are investigating eight suspects related to these crimes, with four of them being Moroccan, three Spanish and one Belgian. The chief prosecutor described the situation as a "crisis within another crisis", referring to the fact that this wave of sexual assaults is occurring in the context of the massive entry of migrants into the territory of Ceuta. Ceuta is a Spanish city located in North Africa, separated from European Spanish territory by the Strait of Gibraltar.
