Brazil's GDP growth of 0.5% in the second quarter disappointed the government's official expectation of 0.8%, according to a note from the Secretariat for Economic Policy (SPE) of the Ministry of Finance. The result also represents a slowdown compared to the first quarter, when the increase was 1.1%. The SPE admitted the possibility of reducing the growth forecast for 2026, currently at 2.3%. The composition of the result was also different from what the agency expected, with greater impulse from sectors less sensitive to the economic cycle, such as agriculture, while industry and services fell below expectations.
