The 41st album of the Asterix and Obelix universe, titled "Asterix in Lusitania", was released in October 2025. This special edition was translated into the Mirandese language, making it available to speakers of this minority language of Portugal.
The comic book was written by Fabcaro as the scriptwriter and Didier Conrad as the illustrator, maintaining the tradition of the original series. This is not the first time the Mirandese language has been used in comic book publications, having been used in previous versions of the series.
Mirandese holds the status of Portugal's second official language, recognized alongside Portuguese. This language is spoken primarily in the northeastern region of the country, in the Bragança district, and enjoys legal protection as intangible cultural heritage.
The Mirandese edition of "Asterix in Lusitania" represents an important cultural milestone for the Mirandese community, allowing access to literature and culture in general in this historic language.
