The strike at TAAG - Linhas Aéreas de Angola, which had been announced for Tuesday, September 1, was cancelled after meetings between management and the union structure. The strike notice was withdrawn, allowing the normal continuity of operations of the Angolan airline.
The TAAG maintenance technicians had announced the stoppage in protest over salary adjustments and against what they consider unilateral decisions by the company. The threat of strike action put at risk the operations of the Angolan state carrier, which ensures air connections to 13 domestic destinations and 12 international destinations.
TAAG management informed, in a statement, that negotiations continue with a view to building a balanced and sustainable solution. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Clóvis Rosa, stated that he values the decision to maintain dialogue and that the objective is to find balanced solutions for workers and sustainable solutions for the organization.
Clóvis Rosa argued that the path of dialogue should continue to be privileged, adding that there are matters on which it is necessary to bring positions closer together, but that this work must be done responsibly. Management also revealed that it maintains dialogue with the remaining representative structures of workers, seeking that the different labor issues be addressed through negotiation and the pursuit of consensus.
