The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, today defended the urgent need for a continuous and integrated fire prevention strategy in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, considering the current model insufficient and fragmented. Her statements came during a visit to the Madeiran territory.
Célia Pessegueiro directly criticized the Regional Government's inability to guarantee the maintenance of fire protection zones, pointing to failures in territorial management that she considers essential for fire prevention on the island.
The PS-Madeira leader also expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Regional Government's use of ad hoc measures, arguing that this piecemeal approach is insufficient to effectively mitigate the fire problem in the region.
Célia Pessegueiro's visit served as an opportunity to reinforce the PS's demand for a structured and permanent prevention strategy, in contrast to the policies it considers sporadic and reactive currently implemented by the Regional Government.
