Vila Viçosa hosted this Wednesday, September 2, a technical meeting dedicated to the possible classification of archaeological remains located in a marble quarry in the municipality. The meeting was held at the invitation of the Center for Studies of Culture, History, Arts and Heritage (CECHAP) and had as its main objective to evaluate the remains found.
The archaeological remains identified in the marble quarry are considered of "great interest" by CECHAP, the organizing entity of the meeting. The classification could grant legal protection to the remains, guaranteeing their preservation.
The meeting had the participation of representatives from CCDR, among other technical stakeholders. During the meeting, the characteristics of the remains and the possibility of integrating them into classified heritage were discussed.
