Visit Orlando CEO reveals plan to bring city to 80 million annual tourists

Orlando is currently the most visited destination in the United States and intends to reach the 80 million annual visitors mark. In an interview with The Orlando Real program, Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando, revealed this ambitious plan for the city. Orlando already received 76.7 million visitors in 2025, a growth of 1.8% compared to 2024 and the highest number ever recorded, with 70.3 million domestic visitors and 6.3 million international visitors.

To reach 80 million, approximately 3.3 million additional visitors would be needed, an advance of about 4.3% over the current record. The strategy to achieve this goal involves attracting new direct flights to expand international connectivity, investing in new tourism experiences, and creating concrete reasons for frequent visitors to want to return. Constant renewal of the destination is considered essential, including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld parks, as well as new dining options, sporting events, and conventions.

Tourism continues to be one of the central pillars of Central Florida's economy. In 2025, the sector drove a record economic impact for the region. In 2026 alone, Orlando has already announced more than 26 new experiences between attractions, restaurants, sports, and entertainment, reinforcing its commitment to diversifying the tourism offering.

Brazilians play a relevant role in this growth, with 736.3 thousand visitors in 2025, an increase of 5.6% compared to the previous year and an all-time record for the Brazilian market. For Casandra Matej, the main challenge remains continuing to offer reasons for millions of people to choose Orlando for the first time and, most importantly, to want to return.
