It's not a lack of hygiene: science explains why we start having 'old person smell' after this age

Scientists explain that the so-called "old person smell" is not related to lack of hygiene, but rather to natural biological changes in the skin. The main cause is the increase of a compound called 2-nonenal, which forms due to changes in the composition of skin lipids and the oxidation process that occurs with aging. According to dermatologists, these changes can start appearing from the age of 40, when antioxidant defenses decrease and the composition of sebum changes. Although aging is inevitable, not everyone develops the same odor with the same intensity, with factors such as genetics, environment, and individual habits also being determinants.

Why does September give us the urge to change? Psychology has an explanation

The article explores why September triggers in people an increased desire to change and start anew. Although January is often associated with new resolutions, September has a more intense psychological effect due to its connection to the school calendar, the end of summer vacations, and the return to routines. Psychologists explain that this "September effect" is linked to associative memory, socialization, and the natural human tendency to seek fresh starts, making this month a powerful symbol of renewal that motivates many people to adopt new habits, organize their lives, and resume postponed goals.

Mounjaro, Ozempic, Wegovy: GLP-1 pens don't cause psychiatric harm, new study shows

A new study published in the Diabetology journal, conducted by researchers from New Mexico State University and the University of Nevada in Las Vegas in the United States, concluded that GLP-1 class medications such as Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Wegovy are not associated with suicidal thoughts, depression, or other serious psychiatric harm. The medications, popularly known as "weight loss pens," are used in the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Initial reports of possible negative psychiatric effects had led the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to conduct formal safety reviews, but the research found no evidence to support such risks.
