Spanish doctors issued a warning in August and, on Tuesday, after the final approval by the Council of Ministers of the Marco Statute bill, the medical unions confirmed their intention to proceed with an indefinite strike. The bill will now proceed to processing in the Congress of Deputies.
The Professional Association for a Medical and Faculty Statute (APEMYF), which includes organizations such as AMYTS from Madrid and Metges de Catalunya, revealed that the profession will present a "vigorous response" against what they consider to be "crushing" by the Government.
The medical unions threaten an indefinite strike as a form of protest against the Marco Statute, expressing their total rejection of the measures proposed by the executive. This action represents a showdown between the medical profession and the Spanish government.
