The management of the Technical University of Porto recently took office. The institution underwent a significant transformation by changing from a polytechnic institute to a university.
The request for this change had been made the previous year. The request was then approved in a Council of Ministers meeting in February.
The Government decided to proceed with this transformation to respond to a demand that had been made. The executive wanted to "give effect to the transformation" that had been requested by the institution.
