Bankinter increases to 3% the remuneration of the current account for new clients

Jornal Económico1 September 2026 at 12:58

Bankinter increased to 3% the remuneration of the Bankinter Online Account for new clients, in the first three months, for balances up to 100,000 euros. The new offer provides for a remuneration of 3% AER (Annual Equivalent Rate) during the first three months, and after this period the rate remains at 3% for clients who set up direct deposit of salary, pension or retirement. For clients who do not subscribe to income direct deposit, the remuneration drops to 2.5% AER. The Bankinter Online Account has no maintenance fee and can be opened in person at bank branches or digitally through the Bankinter application.

The bank also launched a new advertising campaign, titled "It's obvious", which has public figure Lili Caneças as the protagonist, adapting one of her most well-known phrases to the bank's offer: "Receiving is the opposite of not receiving" (a play on words in Portuguese where "receber" means both "to receive" and "to be paid"). The campaign was developed by Altavia Pixel Portugal, with production by Fast Forward and media planning by Havas Media, with its presence expected on the main national television channels. This is the second nationwide television campaign launched by Bankinter in 2026.

The country manager of Bankinter Portugal, Alberto Ramos, stated that this campaign represents another step in the bank's growth strategy in Portugal and in establishing its value proposition for new clients, seeking to clearly and simply communicate the concrete benefits of the offer.

The Bankinter Online Account was elected Product of the Year in the Digital Accounts category in 2025, for the second consecutive year, and also received the "Right Choice" seal from DECO Proteste. Bankinter has been present in Portugal since 2016 and currently has 81 branches, four private centers, two corporate centers and 11 business centers.
