Cinemalua – Associação Cultural resumes regular cinema sessions in September at the São Brás Cineteatro Jaime Pinto in São Brás de Alportel. Screenings take place every Monday at 7:15 PM, with a program of four films from Iran, Slovenia, and Iceland. The organization is the responsibility of Cinemalua and the São Brás de Alportel Municipal Council.
The program kicks off on the 7th with "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, presented in a restored 4K digital version. The 2007 animated film adapts Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel and follows a young woman's growth in Iran during and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The screening will be dedicated to a tribute to Marjane Satrapi, whom the association states died in Paris on June 4, 2026.
On September 14, "Little Trouble Girls" is shown, the first feature film by Slovenian director Urska Djukic. The drama follows Lucia, a 16-year-old girl who joins a Catholic school girls' choir and, during a retreat at a convent, confronts new emotions, sexuality, and beliefs. On September 21, the program continues with "A Mother and Her Son" by Saeed Roustaee, centered on a 40-year-old nurse raising two children alone and whose life is changed by a tragic event.
On September 28, the cycle ends with "The Love That Endures" by Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason. The work follows a year in the life of a family going through a separation, combining images captured over ten years and featuring the participation of the director's own children. Tickets cost five euros per session, three euros for monthly subscription holders, 2.50 euros with Municipal Youth Card, and 3.75 euros with Municipal Senior Card.
