The new TVDE regime law came into force today, introducing significant changes to the non-identified vehicle transport sector. One of the main changes allows taxis to operate as TVDE, a flexibility that did not previously exist in Portuguese legislation.
Dynamic pricing, a common practice on these platforms, will now have clearer and more defined rules. This regulation aims to protect both drivers and passengers, establishing limits and conditions for the application of variable fares.
Regarding video surveillance inside vehicles, the new law states that recording can only be activated if both parties agree, meaning both the driver and the passenger need to give their consent for cameras to function during the trip.
This legislation represents an update to the legal framework for transport platforms such as Uber and Bolt, adapting the rules to the current realities of the sector and seeking to balance the interests of all stakeholders in the TVDE service.
