The first edition of the Art'Amoris International Music Festival runs from September 4 to 13 in Coimbra, promoted by the Art'Amoris Ensemble, based in the city. The festival includes four concerts and a singing masterclass, aiming to diversify Coimbra's cultural offerings and create training and development opportunities for young performers.
The inaugural concert takes place on Friday at 9:30 PM at the Church of the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova, featuring German soprano Susanne Schimmack, the Art'Amoris Ensemble under the direction of Carla Pais, and soloists Teresa Queirós and Carlos Figueiredo. The program includes a work by Bach and two by Mendelssohn.
Between Saturday and Monday, Susanne Schimmack leads a masterclass for singers, which concludes with a concert by the participants on Monday at 7:00 PM at the Major Seminary of Coimbra. This venue also hosts, on the 10th, the concert "A Romance in Paris – Young Talents Concert," featuring works by various composers and performances by members of the Art'Amoris Ensemble, some still in training and others at the start of their careers.
The festival closes on the 13th in the Cloisters of the Museum of Santa Clara da Misericórdia in Coimbra with a semi-staged concert dedicated to works by Händel and Purcell, performed by the Art'Amoris Ensemble. Tickets for the concerts cost between five and 15 euros.
