The Citizens' Shop of Alijó became operational on September 7th, concentrating in a single space three relevant public services that facilitate citizens' access to Public Administration and reduce the need for travel. Located in the town center, this infrastructure represents an investment designed for the people, allowing an effective response to the population's needs, according to the mayor of Alijó, José Paredes.
Among the services available is the Citizens' Space, managed by the municipality, where residents can handle various matters related to more than a dozen public entities at a single service counter. Among the available services are renewal of the Citizen Card for citizens aged 25 or over, address change and confirmation, activation and management of the Digital Mobile Key, request for property records, renewal of driving licenses, application for the European Health Insurance Card, and request for Criminal Record Certificate.
The Agency for State Technological Reform (ARTE), the entity responsible for Citizens' Shops, made efforts with the Institute of Registries and Notary (IRN) to integrate services in the new space, but this integration did not materialize due to a decision by the IRN itself.
The creation of the Citizens' Shop represented a total investment of approximately 1.4 million euros, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). This intervention not only improved the conditions for delivering public services, but also allowed for the requalification and enhancement of a building located in the center of Alijó, contributing to the revitalization of the central area.
