The Autoridade Nacional de Segurança Rodoviária (ANSR) is making its debut at Festival F, which runs from September 3 to 5 in Vila Adentro, Faro, with a campaign dedicated to safe driving and advance planning for the journey home. The initiative, which includes the "Zero Rate Bar" with a motorcycle driving simulator developed in partnership with MT Dynamic, joins other summer actions already carried out by the entity at NOS Alive and MEO Marés.
Over the three nights of the festival, ANSR teams will circulate through the venue questioning participants about getting home and encouraging them to pre-plan alternatives to driving after consuming alcohol. Among the suggested options are choosing a designated driver, using public transport, taxi, or TVDE. Ten thousand voluntary and confidential breathalyzers will also be distributed.
ANSR's president, Pedro Clemente, argues that the decision on how to get home should be made before the night begins. "At a festival, the last decision of the night cannot be left to chance," he stated, emphasizing that celebrating safely and getting home should be part of the same experience. This participation coincides with the last weekend of the national summer campaign "No Excuse Is Enough," which ends on September 6.
At the "Zero Rate Bar," festival-goers can try non-alcoholic cocktails while the simulators allow them to observe, in a controlled environment, the effects of alcohol, psychoactive substances, fatigue, speed, and distraction on driving. ANSR will be present between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM during the three days of the event, which this year features over 60 performances distributed across eight stages in Faro's historic center.
