A 63-year-old Spanish tourist died on Monday morning in a fire at a hotel in Fátima. The woman was staying in a room on the first floor of the hotel, which was evacuated due to smoke spreading throughout the building.
The main suspicion for the cause of the fire is a lit candle in the tourist's room. According to the news, candles are not normally allowed in rooms of this type of establishment. The fire was contained to the room space, but smoke spread to other areas of the hotel.
Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident to confirm the cause of the fire.
