The European inflation rate rose to 3.3% in August, driven by rising energy prices. This value represents a significant acceleration compared to the previous month.

Portugal exceeded the European average, with the national inflation rate reaching 3.6% in the same period. This value represents an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to July.

The data was released by Eurostat's flash estimate, the European Union's statistical office, which collects and analyses economic indicators from member countries.
