The annual inflation rate in the euro zone accelerated to 3.3% in August, representing an increase of 1.3 percentage points compared to the same period in 2025. This significant growth was mainly driven by the rise in energy prices.
Portugal recorded an inflation rate of 3.6% in the same period, positioning itself above the euro zone average. This difference places the country among the nations with the highest inflationary pressures in the region.
The phenomenon is not exclusive to Portugal, as several euro zone countries faced price accelerations, with energy emerging as the main driver of this inflationary trend.
These data come in a context of growing concern about price stability in the euro area, after a period of relative inflationary stabilization in the previous months.
