The Superior Electoral Court began trying on this Tuesday (1st) the action that establishes limits for the use of artificial intelligence and deepfakes in electoral campaigns. The full court's tendency is to maintain a strict veto on synthetic videos with a high degree of realism that simulate the voice or image of living, dead, or fictional people.
The ministers should discuss punishments such as the application of fines and content removal, even when there are warnings that the piece was generated by technology. The proposal aims to curb the dissemination of artificially created false content during the electoral period.
The trial stems from an action filed by PT against the showing of a video generated by artificial intelligence during the PL convention that launched the candidacy of Flaviano Bolsonaro to the Senate. The party questioned the use of former President Jair Bolsonaro's image in the synthetic material.
