The Portuguese company Tekever announced the acquisition of Flowcopter, an engineering company based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Scottish company developed an innovative hydraulic transmission technology for aerospace propulsion that allows unmanned aerial systems to carry heavier payloads over greater distances than conventional platforms.
This technology aims to strengthen Tekever's drones for various applications, including advanced logistics, casualty evacuation, offshore operations, search and rescue, and disaster relief, also supporting advanced concepts of collaboration between manned and unmanned aircraft.
The two companies already had previous collaboration in developing Tekever's AR6 systems, which have the capacity to carry at least 200kg for more than 500km, using the hydraulic transmission technology developed by Flowcopter. Ricardo Mendes, CEO of Tekever, stated that Flowcopter has built an exceptional reputation in engineering innovation and that the acquisition brings together two highly complementary organizations.
Tekever is investing 400 million pounds in the United Kingdom, employing more than 300 workers across the country, with offices, factories, and testing facilities in several British cities.
