Tekever, a Portuguese drone manufacturer, announced the acquisition of Flowcopter, an engineering company based in Edinburgh, in the United Kingdom. This is the company's second recent acquisition in its expansion process in the British market. The value of the operation was not disclosed.
Flowcopter developed hydraulic transmission technology for aerospace propulsion, which allows unmanned aerial systems to carry heavier payloads over greater distances than conventional platforms. The company built a reputation for engineering innovation excellence.
According to Ricardo Mendes, Tekever's CEO, quoted in a statement, Flowcopter developed truly differentiated technology that addresses some of the most demanding challenges of unmanned aviation. The executive noted that the two companies had already worked closely together on the AR6 program, which allowed them to first-hand know the value of Flowcopter's expertise.
The acquisition brings together two organizations considered highly complementary, united by a shared vision of pushing the boundaries of what autonomous systems can achieve. The statement notes that Flowcopter's hydraulic transmission system has transformative potential for the sector.
