AI analyzes 35 years of earthquakes and discovers six massive structures hidden 2,900 km below the Earth

Scientists used artificial intelligence algorithms applied to more than two million seismic records and three decades of global data to analyze the Earth's internal structure. The research revealed the existence of six unprecedented geological zones located nearly 2,900 km deep, exactly at the boundary between the rocky mantle and the liquid outer core of the planet.

The discovered structures represent a significant contribution to understanding Earth's internal dynamics. The study, published in the scientific journal "Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth", drastically alters current knowledge about thermal convection and the geological processes that occur in the deepest layers of the planet.

The researchers believe these massive zones may be related to the evolution of tectonic plates that disappeared over millions of years. Analysis of these deep structures may provide new clues about the processes that shaped Earth throughout its geological history.
