Government reserves R$ 44.8 billion for parliamentary amendments in 2027

oglobo31 August 2026 at 22:57

The Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government reserved R$ 44.8 billion for parliamentary amendments in the 2027 Annual Budget Bill (PLOA), sent to the National Congress. The amount represents an increase of R$ 4 billion compared to what was proposed for 2026.

The federal government only reserves the money for mandatory amendments, which are obligatory, and it is up to Congress to find space in the Budget for non-mandatory amendments. Therefore, the tendency is for the final approved amount to be higher than what was reserved by the Executive. This year, R$ 40.8 billion was reserved, but the approved amount rose to R$ 50 billion.

Parliamentary amendments are a portion of the federal budget that deputies and senators can choose how to allocate, directing the funds to projects, services, and purchases of materials in their electoral bases.
