The presidential candidate for the Missão party, Renan Santos, posted a video saying he will appeal the decision by Justice Dias Toffoli of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to suspend his campaign. He stated that the measure is "unjust, illegal and persecutory."
The decision suspends the candidate's digital electoral propaganda, blocks the transfer of Electoral Fund resources to the ticket, and prohibits Renan from participating in debates, radio, television, podcasts and other media outlets.
The measure was taken after the Electoral Court identified that 16 profiles used by the campaign on social media were reported to the TSE 12 days after the candidacy registration request. According to Toffoli, one of the profiles has approximately 2.4 million followers and was already being used as an electoral propaganda tool.
The justice understood that the late filing of accounts could have given an unfair advantage to Renan's campaign and harmed equality among candidates.
