Minister Dias Toffoli of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) temporarily suspended the campaign of the presidential candidate for the Missão party, Renan Santos. The decision prohibits his participation in radio and television debates, access to electoral fund funds and propaganda on social media.
According to Toffoli, Renan Santos' campaign used irregular profiles on digital platforms to carry out electoral campaign. The Missão party only reported the existence of 16 channels on social media twelve days after the registration of the candidacy.
The measure violates electoral legislation and court resolutions, which determine the obligation to report profiles at the time of registration of the candidacy. One of the identified irregular accounts had 2.4 million followers.
