The Qdenga vaccine, developed by pharmaceutical company Takeda, demonstrated the ability to reduce by 88% the risk of hospitalizations of adolescents in the state of São Paulo, according to a study published in the scientific journal The Lancet. The research analyzed the performance of the immunizer over the years 2024 and 2025, a period in which there was dengue circulation.
The study was conducted by researchers from Brazilian and international institutions. The analysis took into account the use of the vaccine in the "real world", that is, it observed its behavior after the registration and regulatory approval stages, evaluating the performance of the immunizer amid the ongoing epidemic.
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) had granted approval for the use of this vaccine in 2023. The research aims to understand, in practice, how the vaccine impacts the public health system.
