Almost 37 billion in taxes by July

Observador31 August 2026 at 17:55

The Portuguese State collected 36,953 million euros in taxes by July, representing a 3.8% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. This figure corresponds to almost 37 billion euros in tax revenue.

Direct taxes recorded growth of 2.4%, contributing positively to the overall increase in revenue collection. However, IRC revenues, the tax on corporate income, followed an inverse trajectory, declining by 2.1%.

This uneven performance between the different types of taxes shows that the growth in tax revenue was driven mainly by direct taxes on individual taxpayers, while corporate taxation experienced a contraction.
