Caramulo Museums visited by more than one hundred thousand people this year

Jornal do Centro31 August 2026 at 17:51

More than one hundred thousand people have already visited this year the Caramulo Museum and the Caramulo Experience Center, in the municipality of Tondela, beating the previous record of 65 thousand visitors registered throughout the year of 2025. The milestone was achieved when there were still four months left until the end of the year, reinforcing the growth trajectory of the two museum spaces.

The president of the board of the Caramulo Museum, Salvador Patrício Gouveia, attributed this result to relevant and innovative programming and to the success of the strategy to transform Caramulo into a museum village. The growth supports Caramulo's position as a reference destination in the areas of art, heritage and automobile culture.

The increase in attendance is especially due to the Fórmula Mágica exhibition, inaugurated on July 18, which is considered the largest exhibition dedicated to Formula 1 ever held in Portugal and can be visited until October 18. The permanent collections, temporary exhibitions, the experiences at the Caramulo Experience Center and initiatives such as O Museu na Rua also contributed.

The Caramulo Museum, founded in 1953, includes collections of art, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and antique toys. The Caramulo Experience Center, inaugurated in April 2022 in a former industrial building from the 1970s, is dedicated to motor passion and includes a restoration workshop, collection reserves, exhibition area and a documentation center. In the coming days, more than 50 thousand people are expected for the Motorfestival, dedicated to classic and sports automobiles and motorcycles.

The Relationship of Campos with Chuvisco, the Sweet That Is Cultural Heritage of the City

The chuvisco, a traditional sweet from Campos dos Goytacazes in Rio de Janeiro, remains a trademark of the city even after passing fads such as the "strawberry fever of love" and mixtures with ninho and nutella have lost momentum. Considered intangible and cultural heritage of the city since 2011, the sweet also won the Award for Gastronomic Wonders of the State of Rio de Janeiro in 2014, in the category "Sweets and Jams". Despite its strong connection to Campos, the delicacy has Portuguese origins. The confectioner Dayse Souza Cruz, 64 years old, has been working with chuviscos for 36 years and reports that there is demand throughout the year, being so requested that she had difficulty interrupting her orders to grant an interview.
