The Relationship of Campos with Chuvisco, the Sweet That Is Cultural Heritage of the City

The chuvisco is a traditional sweet from Campos dos Goytacazes that has become a trademark of the city, maintaining its popularity over the years even after the decline of other trends such as the strawberry fever and the trend of mixing ninho with nutella. The delicacy is considered intangible and cultural heritage of the city since 2011 and received the Award for Gastronomic Wonders of the State of Rio de Janeiro in 2014, in the category "Sweets and Jams". Despite its strong identification with Campos, the sweet has Portuguese origins. The confectioner Dayse Souza Cruz, 64 years old, has been working with chuviscos for 36 years and reports that there is demand for the product throughout the year, such is the volume of orders. She belongs to a family tradition in confectionery, being the daughter of a confectioner, granddaughter of a confectioner, with an aunt who was a confectioner and a father who sold sweets.
