Engineer Ludgero Marques, an industrialist from Santa Maria da Feira and former president of the Associação Empresarial de Portugal, passed away at age 88. AEP expressed its deep sorrow at his passing, describing him as "one of the greatest figures in the history of business associations and Portuguese industry."
Ludgero Marques led AEP between 1985 and 2008, first as Associação Industrial Portuense and later as Associação Empresarial de Portugal. During that period, he spearheaded one of the moments of greatest transformation and affirmation of the institution.
The industrialist was the founder of Cifial, an industrial group in the hardware and taps sector with factories in Santa Maria da Feira, which have since been sold. During his associative mandate, he also led the construction of Europarque, located in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira.
The wake will take place starting at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 1st, at the Matrix Church of Rio Meão. The religious celebration will begin at 7:00 PM on the same day, after which the funeral will proceed to the Aveiro crematorium.
