Albuquerque wants new police stations

SAPO Notícias31 August 2026 at 16:00

The mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, intends to proceed with the construction of new police stations for the Public Security Police in the city. This initiative comes within the scope of a broader plan to reinforce security and police proximity to local communities.

Regarding aerial resources, the second helicopter for the Public Security Police should see its acquisition or implementation process move forward by November. This measure is part of an effort to improve the response and surveillance capacity of the PSP in the metropolitan area.

The mayor has been defending that reinforcing neighborhood police stations is essential to guarantee a more effective and accessible police presence for citizens. The expansion of the police station network aims to cover areas of the city that currently do not have PSP delegations.

The authorities thus intend to provide the capital with better logistical and operational conditions to respond to the security challenges the city faces, combining ground infrastructure with additional aerial resources.
