The coalition SEMPRE por todos (PSD/CDS-PP) considered that the approval to launch the tender for the preparation of the rehabilitation project of the former Pensão Arraiana represents "a necessary step forward, but one that fails by being late". This position was expressed after the extraordinary meeting of the Municipal Executive held on August 27.
The coalition stated that the delay contrasts with what had been promised previously, as well as with the importance that this building represents for the municipality. The rehabilitation project for Pensão Arraiana had been announced as a priority, but its implementation suffered significant delays.
The approval of the tender for the project nonetheless marks an important step in the recovery of what is a historic property in the city. The coalition acknowledges the value of this decision, although it criticizes the timing of its implementation.
