The number of overnight stays in Portugal has been declining for ten consecutive months. This negative trend affects the tourism sector nationwide.
In the first seven months of 2026, the archipelago recorded 2.5 million overnight stays, representing a decline of 3.7% compared to the same period the previous year.
This decrease contrasts with the country's performance in the same period, which recorded a growth of 1.5% in the number of overnight stays. Thus, the archipelago diverges from the positive trend observed nationwide.
