The Azores registered for the tenth consecutive month a decrease in the number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation. In July, there was a 2.2% drop compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Regional Statistical Service (SREA). This negative trend has continued since October 2025, remaining consistent over several months. The island region has faced significant challenges in the tourism sector, with demand decreasing sustainably. The communiqué was issued in Angra do Heroísmo, in the Azores, on August 31, 2026.
