Ludgero Marques: Seguro remembers a prominent figure of business associations

The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, expressed deep sorrow following the death of Ludgero Marques, at age 88, describing him as one of the most prominent figures in Portuguese business associations. Ludgero Marques passed away on Monday, August 31st.

A native of Santa Maria da Feira, where he was born on March 26th, 1938, Ludgero Marques graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Porto and led the Portuense Industrial Association between 1985 and 2008, a period during which the institution transformed into the Business Association of Portugal. He also headed several companies, notably the taps and ceramics manufacturer Cifial, which he left in 2013.

The entrepreneur received several decorations throughout his career, including the rank of Grand-Officer of the Order of Prince Henry, the Grand-Cross of the Civil Order of Agricultural, Industrial and Commercial Merit of Portugal, and the Commander of the Order of Orange-Nassau of the Netherlands. He was also vice-president of the CIP between 1975 and 1980 and between 1990 and 2000.

The wake will take place starting at 11:00 on Tuesday at the Matrix Church of Rio Meão, in Santa Maria da Feira, followed by the religious celebration at 19:00 and the funeral to the crematorium in Aveiro.
