Prefecture inspects and guides on new rules for self-propelled vehicles

The Rio de Janeiro Prefecture has begun carrying out inspections at various points around the city to guide drivers on the new rules for the circulation of self-propelled equipment, such as electric bicycles and scooters. Agents from the Secretariat of Public Order carried out guidance operations this Monday (31st) on Rua Uruguai, near Conde de Bonfim, in Tijuca, in the city's North Zone.

In addition to guiding drivers, the agents use a dynamometer to measure the maximum speed of the self-propelled equipment. The action takes place amid doubts from both pedestrians and drivers about the new regulations established by decree.

An administrator named Tainá de Freitas commented on the situation, saying she feels confused about the municipal decree. According to her, there are doubts about how to use vehicles that reach speeds above 30 kilometers per hour and whether these devices can or cannot use the city's bike lanes.

Tainá also criticized the lack of clear information about the new rules, stating that every day is a true adventure and that nowhere are there adequate explanations about the regulations. She added that people are lost with so many doubts on the subject.
