The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada (CCIPD) warned the Regional Government of the Azores of the need to acknowledge the gravity of the situation in the tourism sector. The results of July confirmed a significant decline during the high season.

The CCIPD stated that this drop in tourism reveals a "loss of competitiveness" of the region, going beyond a simple seasonality problem. The data concerns local business owners.

Ludgero Marques: Seguro remembers a prominent figure of business associations
