Health Minister Alexandre Padilha confirmed the duplication of the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (HUPE) during a closing dinner of a scientific congress promoted by the institution. The event brought together important names in medicine from the Rio-São Paulo axis, including cardiologist Roberto Kalil and the coordinator of the Intelligent Medical Technology Institute, Ludhmila Hajjar.
During the dinner, Padilha highlighted the appointment of urologist Ronaldo Damião to lead the Health Secretariat of Rio, reinforcing the importance of this nomination for the state's health management.
The expansion of HUPE is among the projects that can receive financing from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), which represents a significant possibility of resources for the expansion of the university hospital.
