The Municipal Council of Gavião, in the Portalegre district, issued an unfavorable opinion regarding a renewable energy project presented by Endesa. The project includes the installation of photovoltaic panels and wind infrastructure in the region.

The municipal council officials consider that the implementation of this type of infrastructure could cause "extremely negative" impacts on the Gavião territory. This position was formalized through the negative opinion issued by the local authority.

The decision comes in a context where several Portuguese municipalities have been analyzing large-scale renewable energy projects with caution, weighing the economic benefits against the potential environmental and landscape impacts.
