Inflation in Germany rose to 2.9% year-on-year through August, according to the harmonized measure monitored by the European Central Bank. This value represents an acceleration compared to July. However, it fell short of forecasts that pointed to a rate of 3.1%. The result brings some relief to policymakers who will meet in Frankfurt the following week.
