The Tide Mill Festival of Mourisca celebrated its 25th edition with the presence of municipal representatives, including the Vice-President of the Municipality of Setúbal, Maria do Carmo Tiago, and councilors Paulo Maia and Bruno Russo, as well as the parish council presidents of Sado and Gâmbia-Pontes-Alto da Guerra. Maria do Carmo Tiago highlighted that reaching the 25th edition represents a significant milestone and that the festival has become part of the identity of that territory, enhancing the relationship between the population and the surrounding natural heritage.
The president of the Parish Council of Gâmbia-Pontes-Alto da Guerra, Luís Custódio, considered the festival unique and special, emphasizing that cooperation between municipalities, the associative movement and remaining partners is essential to ensure the continuity of the initiative. The president of the Parish Council of Sado, Marlene Caetano, thanked the workers of the municipalities and highlighted the associative movement as the resisters who allow this tradition to be kept alive for more than two decades.
The three-day program included music, gastronomy, crafts and children's entertainment, as well as several competitions dedicated to the traditional flavors of the region. In the 24th Gastronomy Competition, first place was won by "Maré de Sabores," from Sado Acolhe. In the 9th Confectionery Competition, "Delícia de Figo," from the Social Solidarity Association of the Parish of Gâmbia-Pontes-Alto da Guerra, won. In the 8th Liqueurs Competition, this same association took first and second place.
The initiative was organized by the Mourisca Tide Mill Festival Committee, with the support of the parish councils of Gâmbia-Pontes-Alto da Guerra and Sado, the Municipality of Setúbal, and the Institute for Conservation of Nature and Forests.
