The Municipal Chamber of Angra do Heroísmo joined the celebrations of the Parish Day of São Bartolomeu, which took place over two days and brought together representatives from various institutions, associations and the local population. The festivities included the presentation of Miguel Silvestre's book at the Casa do Povo, the inauguration of a new space for leisure activities (ATL), the celebration of the Eucharist with the farewell of Father Teodoro, a social lunch, physical activities and moments of musical entertainment.
The new ATL space was highlighted by the President of the Municipal Chamber, Fátima Amorim, as an essential response for families in the parish, contributing to the reconciliation between family and professional life and to the well-being of the population. This space aims to provide better conditions for the monitoring and support of children and young people from São Bartolomeu.
The celebrations also included the farewell of Father Teodoro, who ended his pastoral ministry in the parish of São Bartolomeu and on the island of Terceira. This moment allowed for the recognition of his journey and the closeness he maintained over the years with the local populations.
Fátima Amorim emphasized the importance of cultural decentralization to the parishes of the municipality, allowing more people to have access to diverse and local cultural initiatives. The mayor stated that Parish Day is a moment to celebrate the history, traditions and people who make São Bartolomeu a dynamic and supportive parish, whose contribution is important for the development of the municipality.
