Leiria City Council Admits Delay at Monte Redondo Business Park

Diário de Leiria31 August 2026 at 13:00

Leiria City Council assumed responsibility for the delays in the construction of the Monte Redondo Business Park. The municipality acknowledges that the main causes of the delay are related to the presence of cork oaks in the project area and to archaeological issues identified during the execution.

The mayor guaranteed that there are no delays attributable to the contractor responsible for the work, thus transferring responsibility for the problems to the city council itself.

The municipality of Leiria is the main stakeholder in this situation, being responsible for the management and supervision of the business park project. The issue raises questions about the planning and prior preparation that should have been carried out before the start of construction.
