Portuguese taxpayers have until this Monday to fulfill two important tax commitments. All those who have IRS (Personal Income Tax) to pay, related to 2025 income that was declared this year, must proceed with the payment of the tax until the end of the day.
The same deadline applies to the second installment of IMI (Municipal Property Tax) for property owners whose annual tax value exceeds 500 euros. These taxpayers must pay the second tranche of the municipal tax by the same date.
Payments must be made by the end of August, which corresponds to one month after the deadline that the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) had to complete the process of verifying income, calculating tax, and notifying taxpayers.
According to information published by Observador, the IRS calculation includes income declared during the year, with the AT being responsible for verifying this data and communicating to taxpayers the exact amount to pay or receive.
