The PP accuses Sánchez of "conspiranoia" about Ceuta: "He only lacked blaming Franco"

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General31 August 2026 at 13:01

The Popular Party accused the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, of falling into "conspiranoia" when explaining the migration crisis in Ceuta. The criticism was made by the national spokesperson for the PP, Borja Sémper, who considered that Sánchez had resorted to conspiratorial explanations to justify the situation.

Borja Sémper, who is also vice-secretary of the Popular Party, expressed his amazement at the way Sánchez explained the Ceuta crisis. In his speech at party headquarters, on Calle Génova, Sémper stated that the president of the Government "only lacked blaming Franco," referring to the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco.

Sánchez offered explanations about the Ceuta crisis in an interview with Cadena SER on Monday, before appearing before the Congress of Deputies the following Thursday. The PP considered the explanations from the president of the Government to be insufficient and conspiratorial, choosing to publicly ridicule the official version presented by the Executive.
